Two actors travel to a director’s home in Puglia, Italy to rehearse the script of a new film. Stefano, a rising young actor, desires to be respected as an artist. Alice, a theatrical actor of middling success, arrives at a moment of aimlessness. Max, the director, is an accomplished painter and sculptor whose insatiable creative drive leads him to write his first film script. Tensions rise as Max repeatedly postpones his arrival, and it becomes apparent that he is out of his element and mind.
